Pleasanton Students Compete in the Stanford Puzzle Hunt!

STANFORD, Calif. – On March 20, 2011, sixteen Pleasanton teams headed to Stanford for the annual Stanford Puzzle Hunt. The Puzzle Hunt started promptly at 9AM, leading Pleasanton students, who made up the majority of all Puzzle Hunt attendees, to rise early in the morning for the car trip to Stanford. The tournament began with an explanation of a sample problem by the Hunt coordinators, and then ended with a short skit. The skit was designed to give participants a glance at the theme of the Hunt; this year’s skit illustrated a scene from Ender’s Game.

North California Championship Math Qualifying Meet

PLEASANTON, CA – In the early morning of Saturday, December 11, over 200 students made their way across Amador Valley High School to the multi-purpose room to attend one of the several NCCQM’s held this year. The NCCQM, or the North California Championship Qualifying Meet is a tryout for the North California Championship, which is held annually. Amador Valley started hosting this competition last year because it wanted a regional competition closer to Pleasanton, since most competitions are located in further places such as Stanford.
